Hosting a School
TRIDENT FIREARMS ACADEMY LLC
SCHOOL HOST PACKET
Thank you for your consideration in hosting a Trident Firearms Academy LLC school.
Our goal is your complete satisfaction with the training we will provide to you and the students in attendance. To meet this goal and our objectives of providing the most comprehensive and safe training, we ask your help in the following areas to make this happen.
Host Agreement:
Firing Range Facility: To provide TFA with a firing range, be it indoor or outdoor that can accommodate fifteen to twenty students. Weather conditions in your area may dictate which type of range we utilize. The range must have a safe backstop, good ventilation, (for indoor ranges) and be rated for the type or caliber of ammunition used in the course. If the class is a carbine / rifle course, it must have a backstop that will contain, without damage, the more powerful cartridges used by the students. No tracer or armor piercing rounds are ever utilized in any TFA schools.
- Target Stands: Depending on the course to be taught, target stands play an important role. Most of our classes can utilize any type of safe target stand. Our Extreme Close Quarters Handgun course requires a free standing target stand with no obstructions between them and the backstop. A range with a “knee wall” that protects turning target systems, etc. would not be acceptable as rounds would be fired downward into the target and strike the wall. The easiest way to answer all these range questions is to take a digital photo of the range and backstop, and send it to us as an email attachment.
- Targets and Related Materials: Target overlays and specialty targets will be provided by TFA if the hosting agency can supply the cardboard backers for the targets, staplers and staples. This will assist us in keeping the cost of the course down. Please let us know if we have to provide any of these items so we can pre-ship these materials in advance of the school.
- Travel Time and Classroom: Travel time between a classroom and range, if there both not at the same location, must be kept to no more than thirty (30) minutes if possible to maximize our training time. If the course selected has classroom training, then it must be a large enough room to comfortably accommodate 15 to 20 students with desks / tables and chairs. If the course requires a classroom and none is available at the range or another free location with the travel time designated, then a hotel conference room may need to be rented. Depending on the cost of the conference room, this may cause an increase in tuition for the students or absorbed by the host agency / company. If students will be traveling to the school and staying at a hotel, then this may eliminate or greatly reduce the cost for the conference room. Let us know and we can assist you in shopping around for a good, clean, inexpensive hotel for the students, and secure a reduced rate along with the conference room for the classroom portions of the course.
- Shipping and Storage: If TFA instructors will be driving to your area to provide the training then equipment issues are not as pressing. We have a company trailer to transport our needed equipment and materials. If TFA instructors will be flying to your location, then we will need an address to ship targets and other necessary materials in advance, and you would need to store these for us prior to our arrival. We will not be shipping any hazardous materials or weapons to a class location that requires any special handling.
- Advertising: Advertising the class in your area to secure the required number of students to put on the school is your responsibility. TFA can provide flyers and brochures to assist you with this. If you are a Law Enforcement / Public agency, we would ask that you utilize your teletype / computer system to notify other agencies in your state or region of the impending training via their training divisions or range masters. If you are a law enforcement agency, and you wish to keep this class student roster to LEO’s only, then please advise us. If the class may be open to LEO’s and security specialists or companies then please convey that information to us as well. Private companies can send notification out via the internet or by reproducing our flyers with the tentative date of training on them.
- Payment: Municipal law enforcement agencies or Private companies sponsoring a “Closed School” (their employees only) may pay by check or purchase order as long as confirmation is received three (3) weeks prior to the class date. Private companies or individuals must pay by credit card on our website or by check. Checks must be received no later than 3 weeks prior to the date of the school. If the host agency / company wishes to receive the checks from students and pay via one check from the company in the full amount for the number of students attending then this is permissible. Please understand that TFA will not make travel plans and confirm the school is a “Go” until all tuition is paid. If a course must cancel due to any fault of TFA’s, or if we are unable to secure the minimum required number of students, we will refund all monies paid promptly.
NOTE: Although we do not anticipate any difficulties, as all of these questions will be answered prior to our arrival, should TFA arrive to provide the training and the range or facilities cannot be used as agreed upon, then student money will be refunded. The hosting company however will be charged for any travel and equipment cost if we are unable to provide the training. Unusual or hazardous weather conditions such as hurricanes, tornadoes, or other acts of God are not the responsibility of the host and you will not be charged.
