DATES TBD - Citizen Carbine 101
CITIZEN CARBINE 101
Webster's dictionary defines a carbine as a short barreled rifle, a light semiautomatic or automatic rifle of relatively limited range. Well for our purposes we can't use the "automatic rifle" aka machine gun in this class, and we are allowing lever action carbines. Otherwise we fit the definition. This course is designed for the citizen who owns an AR-15 style carbine, Ruger Mini-14 carbine, or even a pistol grade carbine. Iron sights will be emphasized in this course but combat style optics are allowed. No full magnification scopes. The carbine is generally deployed at pistol distances when stand off from the threat or a greater power factor as far as the type of ammunition is preferred. Acceptable actions for this course are semi auto and lever action. The following topics will be taught and trained on the range;
- Basic Operation of Your Carbine and Nomenclature
- Care, Cleaning, and Maintenance
- The 7 Basic Fundamentals of Shooting (i.e.) Grip, Stance, Sight Alignment, Sight Picture, Trigger Control, Breathing, and Follow Through.
- Loading, Unloading, Cruiser Safe Condition for Ready Gun Storage, Chambering a Round, and Returning it to Cruiser Safe Condition
- Emergency Bolt Lock Reloads and Tactical Reloads
- Carry Positions of Eyes, Muzzle, Target (EMT) Low Ready, Indoor Ready, Port Arms, and Sling Carry Options
